Rutherford OB-GYN Associates Opens Office in Columbus, NC

 

Rutherford OB-GYN Associates, P.A. is pleased to announce the opening of a new office in Columbus.  Dr. Celeste Wiltse will be the primary physician in the office and will begin to see patients on Thursday, September, 14.  The initial office hours will be on Thursdays from 1-5pm.  The office is located at 54 Hospital Drive, Suite 3B, in the medical office park on the St. Luke's Hospital campus.

 

Dr. Wiltse is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She brings 11 years of experience to Polk County where she is providing gynecological care to women of all ages.

 

As a gynecologist, she provides annual well woman exams, hormone therapy, urologic care, birth control, infertility care, and incontinence therapy in addition to treatment for many other women's health issues. She performs outpatient and inpatient surgery to treat conditions such as abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, fibroids, and ovarian cysts.  Dr. Wiltse also has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery and the treatment of female sexual dysfunction.

 

With Dr. Wiltse caring for patients in the Columbus office and on the medical staff at St. Luke's, women in Polk County and surrounding areas will no longer need to travel out of town for specialized care and gynecological services. Dr. Wiltse expects to quickly expand her office hours in the Columbus office.  She states, "I am very excited about opening the Columbus office of Rutherford OB-GYN Associates.  I have many patients from Polk County who will not have to travel as far for their care.  I also look forward to meeting and caring for many new patients in a location that is very convenient for them."

 

Originally from Long Beach, CA, Dr. Wiltse graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. She graduated cum laude in 1995 from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed a residency in 1999 in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Florida Health Science Center, Jacksonville, FL.

 

In medical school, she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, the AIDS youth education project, and the USC Medical School student senate. She has given her time as a health provider in a free clinic and as a tutor/mentor for the HELP for kids.

 

During her residency, Dr. Wiltse received an award for excellence in Gynecologic Oncology and was recognized as an outstanding laparoscopic surgeon.

 

She has practiced medicine with Rutherford OB-GYN Associates since 1999. Before going into private practice, Dr. Wiltse gained experience in a Crisis Center for women and children, and Planned Parenthood. She was also a research assistant for a molecular geneticist.

 

Dr. Wiltse now lives in Polk County where she and her husband enjoy the great outdoors and activities such as rock climbing, hiking and camping.
